  A knowledge of electron collision cross sections is important for this and other applications. However, there appear to be no previous published studies of electron collisions with neutral C 2. This would seem to be in contrast with the C − 2 ion for which a number of studies performed using the ASTRID storage ring are available (Andersen et. Abstract. 1. Introduction. Cross section data on collision processes of electrons with nitrogen molecules (N 2) and singly ionized nitrogen molecules (N 2 +) are important in studying low-temperature plasmas in nature and industrial techniques of gaseous electronics and plasma processing.

In the field of thermonuclear fusion research, the use of N 2, Ne, Ar, and other gases is being by:   Cross section data have been compiled from the literature (to the end of ) for electron collisions with water (H 2 O) molecules. All major collision processes are reviewed including: total scattering, elastic scattering, momentum transfer, excitation of rotational, vibrational, and electronic states, ionization, electron attachment.

A Monte-Carlo procedure has been used to evaluate elastic and vibrationally inelastic momentum transfer cross-sections which are consistent with measured electron swarm transport coefficients in SiH 4 and SiD 4 at low E/N(ratio of applied electric field to gas number density).

In each molecule the elastic cross-section has a Townsend minimum between and eV electron energy. The elastic cross section shows a number of resonance features, which we classify according to symmetry and analyze in relation to available experimental data. Electron-impact excitation cross sections are obtained for the 1 3 B 1u (T) and 1 1 B 1u (V) states arising from the π→π * transition, as well as for eight other low-lying excited.

Absolute total cross sections for negative‐ion formation in several gases (CO, NO, O2, CO2, N2O, SF6, and H2) by electron impact have been measured in a total ionization tube. Both dissociative attachment and ion‐pair formation have been measured, with careful attention paid to complete collection of the negative ions.

Distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA) calculations are reported for singly-differential and total cross sections for the electron impact ionization for atomic hydrogen at 25, 40, 60, and eV.

The theory is compared with available experiments. At all the energies except 25 eV the theory predicts a lower singly-differential cross section for the low-energy side of the secondary.

D/µ as a function of E/N is presented for electron swarms in ethane, propane, propylene and cyclopropane, and momentum transfer and vibrational excitation cross-sections for electron energies between about and eV are evaluated for these molecules.

In each species, vibrational excitation is efficient. Ethane, propane and propylene have a minimum in the momentum transfer cross-section. In this section we present a systematic study which gives eigenphase sums, elastic differential cross sections (DCS) and integral cross sections (ICS) for low-energy electrons collisions HOOCl, HOClO and HClOO isomers in the range from to 10 eV.
